Tryon– Charles “Cappy” Allan Pruette, Jr.,60, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2022, at White Oak Manor of Tryon.
He was the son of Charles Allen Pruette, Sr., and Emma Wharmby Pruette, born on February 17, 1962, in Spartanburg, SC.  As a student, he attended the Charles Lea Center in Spartanburg and later transitioned into the Vera D. Parsons Adult Center work program.  In 1970, Cappy competed in the first Special Olympics of South Carolina and won a gold medal in the broad jumping event. He was a life-long member of Tryon Presbyterian Church.  Cappy attended Camp Hope on Lake Hartwell each Summer for 25 years.
Cappy was preceded in death by his grandparents, Tandy and Grace Pruette, of Tryon, NC, and Chic and Jeanne Wharmby of Gastonia, NC; an aunt, Pat Pruette, and his beloved dog, Laddie. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sisters, Karen Pruette (Robert Brock) of Chapin, SC, and Sandra (Bryan) Pisano of Richmond, VA; a nephew, Alex (Kate) Fagan, and their daughter, Isla of Greenville, SC and two nieces, Lizz (Eric) Stapleton and their children Bear and Jamie of Chapin, SC and Kathryn Fagan of Chapin, SC.
A funeral will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Tryon Presbyterian Church in Tryon, NC with Rev. Dr. Allan Purtill and Dr. Charles Drawdy officiating.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the fellowship hall of Tryon Presbyterian Church.
Burial will follow the service at 4:00 p.m. in Ridings Cemetery in Columbus, NC.
