Tryon– Homer Leroy Newton, 80, of Tryon, NC, died, Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at Pardee Hospital, Hendersonville, NC.

Born in Polk County, NC, he was the son of the late Grady and Agnes Cantrell Newton. Homer enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working on cars.

He was predeceased by two sons, Billy Butler, Jr. and Ronnie Butler: a brother, Alfred Newton, and a granddaughter, Haylee Seres. Surviving is his wife of 40 years, Lillian Chapman Newton; a son, Scott Newton (Sarah); three daughters, Debbie Seres (Alan), Janice McCraw (Tom), and Linda Garland (Johnny); two brothers, Stanley Newton (Elaine) and Chris Newton (Margaret); three sisters, Reba Hutchins, Barbara Dotson (Roger), and Jeanette Byrd; thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, June 17, 2022, at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Charles Arledge officiating.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm at Petty Funeral Home prior to the service.
