TRYON — Jan Wall Romine “flew away” on the “fine morning” of March 22, 2022. It was something she had talked about before.

In fact, Jan had courted death and dying for years. She read Elizabeth Kubler Ross before E.K.R. was cool. She lovingly ministered to AIDS patients through her association with RAIN (Regional Aids Interfaith Network) in Charlotte. And she volunteered at Hospice as an Eleventh Hour volunteer after she moved to Polk Co. But her ministry was accompanied by her love of Trying Things. Art and making art, her flowers and gardens, her animals (dogs, cats, horses, goats, and a parrot), walking in the woods and fields, cooking and her family.

Jan and her sister, Robbie, opened a shop called “Sisters Going to Seed” in Tryon focusing on things that appealed to women of a certain age.
Jan was a happy soul, and those who miss her, will miss her indeed. She loved life, but never feared death. And she finally flew away.
