Come celebrate the arts this Friday in Saluda with the grand opening of Saluda Moon Glass Studio & Gallery and the second-anniversary celebration of Jim Carson Studio/Gallery. These celebrations will coincide with Saluda’s Shop and Stroll which is on the first Friday of each month from 5 to 8 p.m. through October.

Saluda Moon Glass Studio & Gallery at 24 W. Main Street will have a ribbon-cutting at 4 p.m. followed by an open house. Susan Cannon, the owner of Saluda’s newest gallery, specializes in kiln-formed fused glass. The gallery features functional items such as bowls and plates and wall art pieces for home or office decor. Cannon says her style is at times whimsical but can also be abstract or expressionistic.

Jim Carson, who has won numerous national awards for his plein air paintings, will celebrate the anniversary of his gallery opening at 20 W. Main Street, Suite 2 from 5 to 8 p.m. Jim’s gallery opened in the middle of the pandemic in June 2020 so there was never a grand opening. The gallery has many of Jim’s oil paintings of various sizes of landscapes, mountainscapes, seascapes, cityscapes, interiors and still life. Refreshments will be served at the anniversary party.

Visitors can also enjoy Saluda’s Shop and Stroll, held on the first Friday of every month from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Art lovers will enjoy an evening stroll through downtown Saluda featuring local art, shopping, great food and live music. Event-goers can expect local restaurants, boutiques and galleries to offer extended evening hours.
