The Trevor’s Gift Golf Tournament at Links O’ Tryon on Friday, May 20 was a great success! Twenty-five golf teams turned out to participate in the 95-degree heat. Thanks to a loyal group of volunteers, it was a fun-filled day of golf, food, and prizes. There was also a putting contest, hole-in-one contest, long drive contest, and closest to the pin contest during the tournament.

The golf tournament is the major fundraiser of the year for the Trevor’s Gift Scholarship Program. This is a non-profit fund that endows scholarships to Western Carolina University in Trevor Arrowood’s honor for students who wish to pursue a degree in Criminal Justice.

The Trevor’s Gift Scholarship Program was created in honor of Trevor Arrowood, the son of Tryon Police Chief Jeff Arrowood and Kerry Arrowood. Trevor attended Western Carolina University where he obtained his degree in Criminal Justice. He then joined Rock Hill S.C. Police Dept., where he realized his dream of being a police officer.

Trevor only got to serve a few years. He passed away in January 2021 after a battle with aggressive cancer. Trevor’s never-ending devotion to service and duty is what prompted his family and friends to create the Trevor’s Gift Scholarship Program to honor him.

Organizers want to thank all of the many participants and major sponsors. If you want to donate or get involved, you can find out more information at www.trevorsgift.com.
