Tryon– Valerie R. Thompson, 72, of Tryon, NC, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2022, peacefully at home.
Born on May 20, 1949, in Chelsey, MA, she was the daughter of the late Arthur E. and Beth G. Rives. Valerie and her husband moved to Tryon, NC, in 1980. They started the first garden center in Tryon, NC. Valerie owned and operated Four Winds Florist for several years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Douglas M. Thompson. She left behind a daughter, Shannon Thompson Metcalf; two sisters, Vickie Wallace and Verene Clindenst of Virginia; two granddaughters, Brandi Ross and Hali Smith (Jason); one grandson, Declan Jenkins; one great-grandson, Gavin M. Clayton and precious great-granddaughter, Malorie Smith.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2022, from 1 pm until 3 pm, at 246 Holly Ridge Lane, Tryon, NC.
