The Tryon Cemetery Commission in partnership with the Tryon Parks Committee has scheduled a cemetery clean-up day for Saturday, May 21 from 9:30 a.m. until noon. Volunteers are asked to bring rakes, clippers, hand saws, heavy-duty garbage bags and gloves for the special workday.  The Tryon Historic Cemetery is located at 425 Markham Road across from the Garrison Chapel Baptist Church. While working with cemetery commission members, volunteers will have the opportunity to learn about the history of the cemetery and plans for future improvements.

Placement of flags next to the Veterans’ markers is scheduled for Thursday, May 26 at 9:30 a.m.  Volunteers are also welcome to walk the cemetery with members of the Cemetery Commission to place flags at the approximately 90 known Veteran burial sites.
