Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Bette Davis coined the phrase, “Getting old ain’t for sissies.” She was right! It takes a great deal of organizing and planning, making sure our physical and health care needs are met. However, sometimes it’s easy for us to simply neglect our future. It takes more energy than we want to use to prepare for the “what ifs” that all of us face. Sometimes we say to ourselves, “I will worry about that when the time comes.”  But, when we fail to plan well, this process will likely become an even more stressful decision-making process.

So, you are invited to do some of this good and necessary work at an upcoming workshop entitled Caregiving: Planning for the Future of Your Loved One (and You!).  The workshop will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 from 1:00—4:00 p.m. at Tryon United Methodist Church located at 195 New Market Road.  There is no cost to attend.

An excellent group of experienced and knowledgeable professionals will be conducting this workshop and answer questions you might have about planning and implementing those plans.  Workshop leaders are:

  • Jane Armstrong, MSW and Geriatric Specialist
  • Danielle Williams, Caregiver Specialist, Foothills Regional Commission, AAA
  • Lori Simpson, Polk County Ombudsman, from the Foothills Regional Commission (Isothermal Planning and Development Commission) Area Agency on Aging staff
  • Denise Young, Alzheimer’s Association
