A packed house listened to a dozen groups of young aspiring Appalachian musicians at the Tryon Fine Arts Center Wednesday, April 27. The performance showcased groups of claw hammer players, fiddle and mandolin youth performers, guitar and ukulele performers, intermediate Jam, 3 finger banjo, and  intermediate guitar and bass – along with sing along traditional music favorites like Old Groundhog, Shortenin’ Bread, and Bile Them Cabbage.

This Pacolet Jam marked the 9th consecutive year for the Spring Recital directed by Julie Moore with the help of many adult instructors from the local community. The young musicians delighted the crowd with their renditions of Cripple Creek, Folsom Prison Blues, I’ll Fly Away, Down Yonder, Down Yonder and Freight Train.
