Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

The Tryon Easter Sunrise service is back, after being canceled the previous two Easters due to the pandemic. The community is invited to gather by 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 17 at the amphitheater at the Tryon Fine Arts Center on 34 Melrose Ave.

A tradition begun by the Thermal Belt Ministerial Association, this year’s worship service is led by ministers from four local congregations.  Rev. Lynette Sills from the Tryon Methodist Church will be preaching and pastors from Tryon Baptist, The Congregational Church and Tryon Presbyterian will be assisting.

Following the worship service, a light breakfast will be served at the nearby Tryon Baptist Church, a short walk from the amphitheater.

This will be the first sunrise service for Dr. Allan Purtill of Tryon Presbyterian, who moved here in the fall of 2019.  “It’s been missed,” he said, “and there has been a longing in the community to gather and among churches, especially to gather for worship. On this most holy morning, it will be a blessing to pray and sing with the mountains in view.”

Worship leaders will also include Rev. Meghan Young and Rev. Jeff Harris.

The Thermal Belt Ministerial Association is grateful for TFAC’s willingness to provide a space for the service.
