If you have a bucket list of parks, trails and outdoor spaces and places you would like to visit now that spring is here, a trip to Pearson’s Falls ought to be on it.

Most of us know that Pearson’s Falls and Glen boasts a charming ¼ mile trail along the tumbling waters of Colt Creek that leads to one of the most magnificent waterfalls in western North Carolina. Now, as the days become warmer, and the trees become greener, we are reminded to glance at the forest floor of Pearson’s Falls to see the native wildflowers as they grow and blossom. You can test your botanical skills at identifying the wildflowers such as Bloodroot, Dutchman’s Breeches, Giant Chickweed, Hepatica, Mountain Lettuce, Oconee Bells, Trout Lily, Trillium and others. There are also benches and tables along the trail where you can pause and bask in all the glory of Mother Nature.

Hours are 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. every day of the week. Admission is $5, ages 6-12 is $1 and under 6 is free. For additional information, call 828 749-3031, or go to www.pearsonsfalls.org.
