Gymnasts from Foothills Gymnastics Academy recently delivered a sweeping performance in the North Carolina AAU third Qualifier in Charlotte, NC.

Competitors must earn a high enough score at a Qualifier competition to be eligible to compete in the state meet in late April. All FGA gymnasts who competed in Charlotte earned a qualifying score.

Anna Bucher, Kendall Medina, Hadley Pereira, Aria Springs, Alia Vorbe and Emma Whitehurst represented FGA at the AAU Xcel Bronze level. Genevieve Ard, ScottLynn Whiteside and Kylie Whitinger participated at the AAU Xcel Gold level. Hallee Mathis and Sherlyn Trejo competed at the AAU Xcel Platinum level.

In terms of the bronze team:

• Bucher received fourth place with 36.10 from her first on vault with 9.2, 9.1 on bars, 9.1 on floor and 8.7 on beam. She increased her all-around score by almost a full point from raising her vault and bar scores.
• Medina earned 35.9 all-around from her first on vault with 9.25, 9.0 on floor, 8.95 on beam and 8.7 on bar. She improved her all-around by almost a point by raising her vault, floor, beam and bar scores.
• Though only her second competition, Pereira won first place all-around in her division with 37.05 from her tie for first place on beam with 9.45, third place on vault with 9.1, fourth on bar with 9.15 and 9.35 on floor. She raised her all-around score from the previous competition by improving her floor, bars and beam scores.
• Springs got 35.0 all-around from her 9.25 on floor, 8.9 on bars and 8.9 on beam. She raised her all-around score from the previous competition due to her improved floor, beam and vault scores.
• Vorbe earned 36.3 all-around from her fourth place vault with 9.15, 9.2 on beam, 9.1 on floor and 8.85 on bars. She improved her all around score more than six-tenths of a point from the previous competition due to increasing her beam and bars.
• Whitehurst received 35.9 all-around from her 9.2 on floor, 9.0 on beam, 8.95 on vault and 8.75 on bars. She raised her all-around score almost 1.5 points from improving her floor, vault and bar scores.

FGA’s coaches are proud of the growth with the young gymnasts.

In terms of FGA’s gold team:

• Ard received 36.1 all-around from her first on bars with 9.5, third on beam with 9.0, fifth on vault with 8.75 and 8.85 on floor. She scored the highest bar score in her session and received a free leotard.
• Whiteside received fourth place all-around with her 36.35 from her fourth on bars with 9.25, fourth on vault with 9.0, 9.25 on floor and 8.85 on beam. She raised her all-around score by a whole point from improving her floor, bars and vault scores from the previous competition.
• Whitinger earned first place all-around in her division with 35.6 from her first on vault with 8.85, first on beam with 8.75, second on floor with 9.1 and third on bars with 8.9. She improved her all-around from the previous competition.

For Xcel platinum:

• Mathis received third place all-around from her 35.35 from her first place on beam with 9.45, and 8.7 on floor.
• Trejo earned first place all-around in her division with 37.125 from her second place on beam with 9.425, first place on floor with 9.3, first on vault with 9.2 and first on bars with 9.2. She also won a leotard for having the highest score in her session.
