Tryon– On March 14, 2022, Bert passed away at age 97 after a brief illness. She was a resident of White Oak Village Apartments in Tryon for over 14 years and a friendly neighbor to all who lived there. She will be remembered for her love of people and conversation.
Bert was born and grew up in a tiny mining town in Pennsylvania. She went on to become a registered nurse in Philadelphia, where she met and married her husband, Pete. She served as a Navy officer’s wife for over 20 years, making homes for her family in Washington DC, California, and Virginia. The couple’s remains will be interred in the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in California.
Bert was predeceased by her husband and is survived by her daughters Jan Marie, Karen, and Barbara. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
