TRYONRussell Newton Randolph, Jr., 96, of Tryon, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday evening, February 26, 2022, at his home.
Born in New York City, he was the son of the late Russell Newton Randolph, Sr. and Gladys Bora Randolph and husband of the late Evelyn Grosskoph Randolph who passed away in 2003. Mr. Randolph was a veteran of W.W.I.I. having served in the U.S. Army. He moved to Polk County in 1979 coming from Bay Shore, Long Island. Mr. Randolph retired from AT&T in 1985. He was a faithful member of Coopers Gap Baptist Church and served on the jail ministry for over 30 years. Mr. Randolph’s passion was to tell the world about Jesus Christ.
Surviving are three sons, Russell Randolph of Plattsburg, N.Y., William Randolph of Bethesda, MD, and Matthew Randolph of Tryon; four daughters, Linda Andres of Jacksonville, FL, Deborah Frahme of Saratoga, NY, Claudia Vickers of Corvallis, OR, and Claire Hoffmann of Croatia. Also, surviving are nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Coopers Gap Baptist Church at a later date.
