Bostic, NC– Melody Spooner Skillman, 67, of Bostic, passed away Saturday, February 19, 2022, at her residence after battling a lengthy illness.
She was the daughter of the late Milton Spooner and Lorena Cannon Spooner, who had resided in Fox Lake, IL. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Richard Spooner, Linda Spooner, Patrick Spooner, and Robin Ann Spooner.
Melody was a vibrant, expressive, and loving person who will be sorrowfully missed by all that knew her. As a young woman, she was the solo singer in her father’s big band group. She owned Little Mel’s, a dinner club in Key West, Fl, where she was the evening soloist entertainment. In her later years, she was involved in sales with various industries.
She is survived by her husband, Neil Skillman of Bostic; her daughter, Sunny M Bush of Santa Rosa, CA; siblings, Jerome M. Spooner and his wife Diane, Theodore F. Spooner and his wife Lisa, and Laurel Ann Spooner and her husband Eddie; her stepchildren, Jon Skillman of Hendersonville, Courtney Skillman Dozier and her husband Nick of Wake Forest, and Shawn Skillman and Erin Johnson of Columbia, SC; and step-grandchildren, Kyndra, Lauren, Nicholas, Megan, Joshua, Maya, and Nina.
There will not be a service at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.
