Rutherfordton, NC– James Lee Tipton, 53, of Rutherfordton, NC passed away Sunday, January 30, 2022.
Born in Spartanburg County, SC, he was a son of Billy Tipton and the late Ina Jean Johnson Tipton. He was a volunteer firefighter at Green Creek Fire Department. James was a loving husband, father, “Pappy”, son and brother. He was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his brother, William “Wilbo” Stafford.
Left to cherish his memory with his father is his wife, Norma Fletcher Tipton; two daughters, Brittney George (Michael) and Rachel Tipton (fiancé, Jonathan Tabor); sister, Barbara Fortner (Jamie); and two grandchildren, Tyler George and Savannah George.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, February 3, 2022, at Eggers Funeral Home in Boiling Springs.
A funeral service to celebrate James’ life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 4, 2022, in the Chapel of Eggers Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Cash officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
