SPARTANBURG COUNTY—A cow caused a traffic backup along Interstate 26 Monday morning.

The female dairy cow fell out of a transfer truck at the Interstate 26/US 176 interchange.

The cow was reported to be alive Monday morning, according to South Carolina state troopers. The truck driver did not stop, so troopers are hoping to locate the owner.

A veterinarian reportedly stopped on scene and was caring for the animal.

Passersby also stopped to help care for the animal as well as the South Carolina State Highway Patrol.

Later Monday the cow was reportedly doing well and was eating. Dr. Rachel Lane from Orchard Hill Veterinary Clinic helped the cow and said it is injured but eating and doing well considering the trauma she went through. Tate Kids brought a trailer and helped get the cow off the interstate.
