All Tryon water customers need to boil water

TRYON—All Town of Tryon water customers were under a boil water advisory Tuesday.

The town sent out notice early Tuesday morning saying all water customers will be experiencing periods of low pressure and outages in the distribution system because of 2 water line breaks.

Periods of low or no pressure in the distribution system increase the potential for back siphonage and the introduction of bacteria in the water system.

Once water service is restored, customers are advised to boil all water used for human consumption, including for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparation. Customers should boil water for one minute to kill any disease-causing organisms that may be present in the water or use bottled water.

The town also encourages customers to conserve water whenever possible.

The boil water advisory remained in effect until further notice from the town, which as of Tuesday afternoon had not been lifted.
