FENCE to host first concert of the new year

Join us in welcoming the new year with a concert in the Great Room at FENCE. The concert will take place on Sunday, January 9th at 4pm. The Winter’s Evening Concert will Feature soprano Amanda Dimond, pianist Arthur Decotiis, and violinist Ivana Carlson with accompaniment by Cecilia England.

Amanda Dimond is a 20-year-old soprano who has been studying voice with Brenda Quilling for four years. She won first place twice in a row for the Foothills Music Club Scholarship Awards Competition and has performed in several operas with the Spartanburg Repertory Opera Company. Amanda has been a guest soloist for many events, including the annual Lincolin-Reagan-Trump-Republican Galas, 9/11 Memorial services, the 2018 TFAC “Over the Top” fundraiser, local church services, and recitals. In September of this year she organized and performed in her first concert “An Afternoon Of Music”.

Arthur DeCotiis is a 17-year-old pianist. He started playing piano at the age of nine and has given solo performances at Tryon Estates, Tryon Fine Arts Center, and Tryon Presbyterian Church. He also plays the organ for weddings, funerals, and other special occasions at his parish. He won first place twice in a row for the Foothills Music Club Scholarship Awards Competition, and was a prize-winner in the 2021 Asheville Piano Competition. In September, he was invited as a featured solo pianist in the concert “An Afternoon of Music ” alongside soprano Amanda Dimond. He studies with Dr. Elizabeth Child.

Ivana Carlson is a 20-year-old musician who has been playing the violin since she was four. She has had the honor of being Concertmaster of the Carolina Youth Symphony orchestra for two years including at their performance in Carnegie Hall, NYC. She has been a winner of multiple scholarships for the Foothills Music Club Scholarship Awards Competition and has received the Cathryn B. Crouch (2019) and the Robert Chesebro Award (2020) for Most Outstanding Musician. Ivana has won several concerto competitions and soloed in front of expert orchestras. She currently studies with Dr. Courtney LeBaurer at Converse College.

This event is free and open to the public. Registration is required for this event. Seating will be limited and spaced out to provide extra distancing between guests. Face coverings are recommended and extras will be available for guests. FENCE is located at 3381 Hunting Country Road in Tryon, North Carolina.
