Polk ranks in top 10 for charitable donations

County is 7th highest in state for charity

POLK COUNTY—Polk County is one of the top counties in the state who gave to charities this year. 

Polk County ranked 7th out of 100 counties for charitable donations in 2021, according to a recent study from SmartAsset.

SmartAsset got the information from IRS data to find the places where residents were giving the most. The study measured how much people donate as a percentage of their net income and the proportion of people in each county who make charitable donations, according to the study. 

The number one county in the state was Chatham County, followed by Orange, Union, Mecklenburg, Wake, Durham then Polk County. Other counties in the top 10 in the state included Watauga, Moore and Iredell counties.
