The staff of the Bojangles restaurant in Landrum (several of whom are pictured here with Kairos volunteers) went to work at midnight last Friday night and prepared 985 chicken dinners to be delivered by to the staff and inmates of Tyger River Correctional Center in Enoree, SC, south of Spartanburg Saturday morning. Barrie Heinzenkneckt, far right, a resident of the Cliffs of Glassy community, organized the effort for Kairos. After loading up, he drove a panel truck full of chicken dinners to the prison in time for Saturday lunch. “The men there now know they are not forgotten in this holiday season,” Heinzenkneckt said. Kairos, which in normal times runs ministry weekends in the prison twice a year serving the inmates, has been unable to visit Tyger River Correctional since the S.C. Department of Corrections closed down its facilities due to covid restrictions two years ago.
