Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Amelia “Nicki” Calhoun Truluck passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2021, after a long bout with Parkinson’s.  Nicki was born in Tryon, NC at the old St. Luke’s Hospital on December 31, 1950, the daughter of the late Alan Calhoun and Amelia Nickels Calhoun.  Educated in the Tryon City Schools, she graduated from Ashley Hall in Charleston, SC.  She attended Converse College where she studied voice.
She was blessed with a beautiful operatic voice but decided against making it her profession.  She sang in Tryon’s Holy Cross Episcopal Church choir from an early age until her marriage.  She then sang in the Lake City, SC Presbyterian Church choir for many years.
She was married to Jim Truluck for almost thirty-seven years.  She and Jim, a career dentist, founded and ran Truluck Vineyard and Winery in Lake City.  Their wines won numerous medals and awards at wine shows.  Nicki served on the Lake City Presbyterian Church Session and she and Jim were dedicated to Meals on Wheels.
Nicki was predeceased by her husband Jim and two sons, Calhoun Truluck and Jay Truluck.  She is survived by two sons, Stephen Spratt and Dr. Bowen Truluck; one daughter, Catherine Ann Schellenberg; twenty-one grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.  She is also survived by her sisters, Margaret Moses and Julia Calhoun, and one brother, Patrick, and his wife, Wanda Jewell.
Her first marriage was to the late Steve Spratt of Tryon, NC.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Lake City Presbyterian Church on Sunday, December 5, 2021, at 2:00 PM, directed by Carolina Funeral Home, Scranton.  A private burial will precede the service. A memorial will be held in Tryon at Holy Cross Episcopal Church at a later date.
Those she leaves behind will remember her lovely face, warm personality, and sense of humor.  She will be missed more than words can say.
