Join Conserving Carolina on Friday, November 19, for an approximately 6.5 mile, moderately difficult, out and back hike to Whitewater Falls. Conserving Carolina’s southeast stewardship manager, Pam Torlina, will lead the hike.
On this final hike of the Fall Series, the group will head to Whitewater Falls in Nantahala National Forest, the highest waterfall east of the Rockies, falling 811 feet! This moderately difficult hike will follow the Whitewater River upstream, to a scramble over rocks, ascending to a wooden staircase, up and to an amazing view of the 411-foot upper portion of the waterfall.
If you are interested in attending the hike on November 19, meet at Ironwood Square, Conserving Carolina’s office, 847 Case Street, Hendersonville, NC, at 8:30 a.m. to check in, arrange carpooling, and start the approximately 1 hour and 15 minute drive to the trailhead. If you’re coming from an area closer to the trailhead, please contact Pam Torlina to make other meeting arrangements. Hikers should be prepared to return to the area in the mid-afternoon.
Pre-registration is mandatory, and space is limited to 30 participants. To RSVP and sign up, visit Conserving Carolina’s website calendar event at conservingcarolina.org/calendar/.
For your safety, do not attempt any hike beyond your ability and experience. Hikers should wear appropriate clothing and footwear; bring a bag lunch and/or snack and plenty of water. Please be sure to bring any personal medication that you may require.
In case of inclement weather, please contact Pam Torlina by email at: pam@conservingcarolina by 8:00 on the day of the hike and/or check the Conserving Carolina website ‘calendar’ and/or Facebook page to see if the hike will take place.
