TRYON– James Robert Edney, 75, of the Pacolet Valley Community of Tryon, went home to be with the Lord, Monday afternoon, October 11, 2021, at St. Luke’s Hospital.

A native and lifelong resident of Tryon, he was the son of the late James Edney and Helen Morton Edney and husband of the late Dianne McKinney Edney who passed away in 2015. James was a 1964 graduate of Tryon High School where he played football. He started out working in the logging business at a young age and worked 60 plus years until his recent sickness. James was a member of Sandy Plains ARP Church.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Lee Lindsey, Joyce Huntley, and Doris Lehoskay. Surviving is his wife, Judy McKinney Edney; his three children, Carmen Lee (John) of Inman, S.C., Kim Mosley (Mark), of Chesnee, S.C., and James Lamar Edney (Nancy) of Chesnee, S.C.; twenty-one grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, three brothers, Carl Edney, Carroll Edney (Teresa), Douglas Edney all of Tryon, NC; three sisters, Marjorie Sichert of Indianapolis, IN, Shirley Harris (Arthur) of Sebastian, FL, and Bonnie Pendleton of Sebastian, FL. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at Beaumont Baptist Church in Spartanburg with Rev. John T. Lee, Jr. officiating.
