Saluda gives notice of 3,500 gallons of untreated wastewater at Pearson Falls Road

SALUDA—The City of Saluda sent notice on Monday that it had a discharge of wastewater of 3,500 gallons on Thursday, Oct 7 at the wastewater treatment plan on Pearson Falls Road. 

The area had heavy rains all week last week, with some estimates up to 9 inches of rain from Monday through Friday.

The untreated wastewater was discharged into Joel’s Creek in the Broad River Basin. 

N.C. General Statute 143-215.1C requires that the owner of any wastewater collection or treatment works to issue a press release when an untreated wastewater of 1,000 gallons or more reaches surface waters. 

The city has contacted the Division of Water Resources of the event, which is reviewing the discharge.
