Polk County Animal Control hosting event at Sunny View Fire Department

SUNNY VIEW—Pet owners can get low-cost rabies vaccinations soon. 

The Polk County Animal Control is hosting a rabies clinic from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 9 at the Sunny View Fire Department.

Rabies vaccinations are available for dogs, cats and equines for $10 and DA2PP and FVRCP will be available for $20. Dogs must be on a harness or slip leash and cats must be in a crate. 

Foothills Humane Society will also be providing microchips for $10. 

State law requires that all dogs, cats and ferrets be vaccinated against rabies. Although not required by law, horses should also be kept current on vaccinations. 

Polk County ordinances require that dogs and cats be vaccinated and wear a vaccination tag. Violators of the ordinance can be fined $100 in the county.
