TLT’s first offering in 18 months

 

Tryon Little Theater will raise its curtain for the first time in 18 months with the musical comedy, I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change to be held September 16-26 in the theater’s black box workshop located at 512 South Trade St. in Tryon.

Everything you have ever secretly thought about dating, romance, marriage, lovers, husbands, wives and in-laws, but were afraid to admit. Following the highs and lows of first dates, first loves, marriages, babies, in-laws and growing old together, this hilarious and poignant show pays tribute to those who have loved and lost and to those who have dared to ask someone out on a date.

The play is mostly comedic, though there are a few more serious scenes. The play’s presentation is a series of vignettes connected by the central theme of love and relationships.

For this production, eight cast members play about 60 different characters. The actors are Lori Corda, Brenda Craig, Sam Craig, Cathy Fischer, Tena Greene, Lee Mangum, Jim Powell and Alex Tapp. The show is the first musical for director Joel Perkin, who is assisted by Brian Holcomb, and produced by Sandie Bright. Pam McNeil provides musical direction, Lindsey Moore is the set designer, the costumer is Gail Muir, and Dietrich Jackson will design and run the lighting and sound.

Because of Covid, the 72-seat venue will be limited to 50% capacity, and masks will be required of the audience, so if you are going, plan ahead. The show will run Thursday-Saturday nights at 7:30 pm both weekends with 3:00 matinees on both Sundays as usual. To offset the capacity limitations, 3:00 matinee shows on both Saturdays have been added.

The theater has also put in an air filtration system to provide further protection and the cast and crew have all been vaccinated.

Tryon Little Theater has redesigned its website, tltinfo.org, and improved its ticketing process, including the option to purchase season tickets and make donations online. Tickets are still available at the box office or by calling 828-859-2466. However, the theater encourages getting tickets online for the best experience and the option to choose your own seats.
