Tryon Concert Association announces its 2021-2022 season of outstanding live performances. This 67th season represents TCA’s commitment to bringing world class music home to Tryon and the return to the stage of musicians from around the world. TCA will present five subscription series concerts this season, a result of rescheduling due to the pandemic.

The Takács String Quartet will perform the opening concert on Thursday, October 21. These four musicians, originally scheduled to perform here last season, will play works by Franz Joseph Haydn, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor and Ludwig van Beethoven. 

Marc-André Hamelin, whose original performance date was postponed due to the pandemic, will appear on Thursday, November 11, with a dynamic program of C.P.E. Bach, Sergei Prokofiev, Alexander Scriabin and Beethoven. Hamelin has performed works by a wide range of composers and has championed new music. 

Bass baritone Ryan Speedo Green will appear on Friday, February 4, in a program that features works by Gustav Mahler, Richard Wagner, Hugo Wolf, and African-American art songs. Mr. Green has become famous for singing in the great opera houses of Europe and America. He has appeared with numerous orchestras and is the subject of Sing for Your Life.

On Monday, April 4, the Vienna Piano Trio will perform works by Schubert and Mendelssohn. This ensemble of piano, violin, and cello, formed in 1988, is coming to Tryon as part of its Farewell Tour of North America. Its members have earned acclaim for their commitment to sustaining and expanding the piano trio repertoire.

The Academy of St Martin in the Fields is to perform the final concert of the season on Monday, April 18. The four wind instrumentalists are joined by the pianist Simon Crawford-Phillips in playing works by Carl Reinecke, Mozart, Brahms and Beethoven.
