Petition created to send to cellular company for poor service

POLK COUNTY—Cellular customers in the area have not been satisfied with their coverage lately through Verizon. 

A petition was recently created to send to the company with complaints of poor service lately.

As of Friday morning, the petition had generated 681 signatures. The petition was created by Lonn Smith through Care2Petitions and is titled, “Verizon Polk County North Carolina & Surrounding Area Customer Complaints.” 

The petition states that Verizon customers of Polk County and the surrounding area are writing to collectively inform you that we are dissatisfied with the quality of service we are receiving as of late. 

“Several of us have called and voiced our concerns directly to Verizon and were informed that there was not a great number of direct complaints on record with Verizon from customers in this area,” states the petition. “We would like to assist you by streamlining our collective concerns into this petition. Hopefully, this will allow you to have an accurate record of customers in this area who are not satisfied with their current service and their reasons for that dissatisfaction.” 

In signing the petition, many people have left personal comments about what cellular service means and how poor the service has been. 

One person said having the best service is important because they have an autistic child who wanders off and often gets hurt or in trouble and they need to be able to use the service in case of an emergency. 

Another person said their reception is atrocious and paying for this level of service is asinine. 

Several people said they need the service for work and others said if the service is not improved they will be switching service to another carrier. 

Some said areas of Tryon they cannot send a text with an attachment and phone calls are often dropped. 

An area teacher said many times they have tried to call parents and the signal is bad. 

Others said that the Verizon signal was great for years but has gotten worse and is currently unacceptable. 

An area nurse practitioner said they have to take calls for work that are life threatening and many times they miss calls. They also said they are unable to get high speed Internet or a land line at their home so cell service is their only option.
