Just another town

Letter to the editor

I am sorry to say it, but Saluda to me has lost some of its charm and become just another town…

Oh yes, it is still a pretty mountain town with its own two grocery stores, its historical buildings and flowered streets… But its small icon, the quirky detail that added to its flavor and made it unique, is gone.

That small one room office standing on the curve of the road by the bridge always made me smile and think: “Yes, I am in Saluda! There is no other town like it!”

It was not much, but like all details, it made a huge difference.

Imagine:

What would Columbus be without its Dough Boy, or Tryon without Morris?
