Polk County Sheriff Tim Wright said Det. Sgt. Cannon joins a select group of North Carolina law enforcement professionals who have obtained the necessary training, education and experience requirements to be recognized by the North Carolina Sheriff’s Training and Standards Commission with the advanced law enforcement certification award.

The sheriff’s office administrators nominated Dep. Price for consideration by the North Carolina Region 3 Law Enforcement Advisory Council for his vigilance in locating and apprehending a breaking and entering suspect still inside a residence while conducting house checks.

Sheriff’s office administrators nominated Dep. Luchak for his bravery and courage pulling 2 occupants out of a burning vehicle after a lengthy high-speed pursuit.

“I’m proud of Sgt. Cannon, Dep. Price and Dep. Luchak for going above and beyond the call of duty,” Sheriff Wright said. “It is outstanding to see the NC Sheriff’s Commission and the NC Region 3 Advisory Council agree with us and recognize their hard work and dedication to the profession.”
