Letter to the editor

First a big thanks to Polk County for providing recycling trucks in various areas. A special thank you to Dan for his enthusiasm, knowledge and dedication.

To me, recycling just makes sense. The earth has finite resources so human beings need to be good stewards of those resources. It is particularly troubling to see photos of square miles of our beautiful oceans filled with plastic and other trash. At times I have felt that as just one person, what difference can I make? However, especially in this time of uncertainty and feeling helpless to effect change, I can take control of this one area and make a difference.

If it seems overwhelming to figure out what to do, start with one category: aluminum cans. They are easily recycled with processes that have been in place for many years. 

A little bit of something is still something.
