The discharge occurred on March 2 and last for approximately 30 minutes, according to town reports.

Of the discharge, the town estimates that 5,000 gallons of the untreated wastewater entered into an unknown tributary of Little Creek.

The town has been working on issues at Braewick, which has seen several discharges following heavy rains. The town has spent $23,500 to dredge the pond at the water plant and another $16.000 on new pumps below the wastewater treatment plant to help the issues.

Town officials have said the Braewick Drive situation is the town’s top priority in a 15-year capital improvement plan currently being worked on. The town has to report any discharges from wastewater to the state and is normally fined at least $1,500 for each discharge.
