MILL SPRING —Claude “Leon” Green, 77, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 22, 2021.

Leon was born in Polk County, NC to the late Romey and Myrtle Davis Green. Leon was a loving and devoted husband, daddy and poppa. He retired from Renfrow Brothers, Inc. in Spartanburg, SC.  Leon was a member of Silver Creek Baptist Church where he faithfully served in many capacities including serving as a Deacon for almost 40 years.  

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gene Green and his in-laws, J.P. and Grace Metcalf.

Surviving is his wife of 56 years, Janice Metcalf Green; and his children, Lisa Conner-Crisp (Mark) of Knoxville, TN, Keith Scott Green of Mill Spring, NC, Andrea Fisher (Kevin) of Mill Spring, NC, Brittany Matson of Saluda, NC and Caleb Connor of Mill Spring, NC; eighteen grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.  Also surviving are his sisters and brothers in-laws, Becky, John, Jerry, Bruce, Beverly and Randy.

The family wishes to thank Spartanburg Medical Center physicians, nurses and staff and the Upstate Community Hospice House for the care they provided to Leon.

A funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 28, 2021 at Silver Creek Baptist Church in Mill Spring, NC with Reverend Robert Hefner, Dr. Chris Osborn and Reverend Randy Metcalf officiating.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. 

Burial will follow the service in the Silver Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
