Tryon to begin awarding citizen of the year

TRYON—The Town of Tryon has decided to begin awarding a citizen of the year. 

Tryon Town Council met last week and agreed to host a citizen of the year award ceremony at one of the upcoming Summer Tracks concerts, which are held in the summer months at Rogers Park. 

Tryon Town Manager Zach Ollis said he would like to provide the person with a plaque, provide a banner for the ceremony and give a gift for their efforts in beautifying Tryon. 

“We are currently looking at official Town of Tryon wind breaker jackets with their names embroidered,” Ollis told the mayor and commissioners. 

Council unanimously approved a plaque design and hosting the annual ceremony for citizen of the year.
