Polk tops 1,100 COVID cases

County adds another 80 cases of COVID-19 last week

POLK COUNTY—Polk County’s trend of COVID-19 keeps trending upward. 

The county added another 80 cases of the virus last week, going from 1,037 to 1,117 cases. The week before was the highest record, with the county adding another 141 cases. Polk County has gone from 896 cases 3 weeks ago to 1,117 as of last Friday.

The county’s percent positive last week was 13 percent. The county also added another 2 deaths last week, up to 17 total from the previous 15 deaths. Total hospitalizations are at 33. 

Polk County has completed 15,119 tests with 937 people positive presumed recovered. As of Friday, there were still 18 tests pending. 

The total number of positives continue to be in females, with 53.72 percent female as of Friday and 46.28 percent being male, according to the Polk County Department of Health and Human Services Agency. 

Most of Polk’s cases have been in people age 25-49, followed by people age 50-64, 75 and above, 65-74, 0-17 and 18-24, according to Friday’s data. 

Polk has vaccinated an estimated total of 1,600 people.
