Tryon employees to get COVID bonus

Council approves giving each employee $2K

TRYON—The Town of Tryon is showing its appreciation for all its employees have done during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Tryon Town Council met Tuesday and approved giving a one-time bonus to all employees of $2,000.

Tryon Town Manager Zach Ollis told commissioners Tuesday night that public works and all the staff have done everything they can to help the community during the pandemic. He proposed paying every employee a bonus. 

Commissioner Crys Armbrust said on behalf of the Tryon Town Council for all the employees who went beyond the call of duty, he motioned to give a bonus payment of $2,000. 

Tryon Mayor Alan Peoples asked if the funds are available to grant the bonus. Ollis said they are. 

The bonus was approved unanimously. 

“Thank you ladies and gentlemen,” Peoples said. 

Ollis said staff has worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic. 

“From the beginning, our police, fire, public works and the rest of the staff have never backed down and did everything they could to help and protect the community,” Ollis said. “From answering COVID calls to delivering bread, they have done more than most.”
