Sheriff’s office officials said their narcotics division initiated an investigation into a drug organization based in Spartanburg County. The narcotics unit developed information that a large amount of methamphetamine was being brought into the county and surveillance was set up along Interstate 85 this week. With the help of the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office Interdiction Team and Spartanburg County Interstate Criminal Enforcement (ICE) Team, a traffic stop was executed on the suspect vehicle on Highway 101 around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Officers searched the vehicle and discovered 10 kilograms of methamphetamine as well as $3,500.

Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office officials said the street value of the methamphetamine is estimated at $930,000.
