SC 14 is closed to create a bridge

LANDRUM—Area drivers should be aware there is a detour that began on Monday, Nov. 30 at SC Highway 14.

The South Carolina Department of Transportation closed the section that crosses over the South Pacolet River between Highway 11 and U.S. 176. The section is in Greenville County and the state closed the road as part of a project to replace the existing four-barrel culvert that carries the river under Highway 14.

“The existing culvert cannot be economically repaired and a bridge will be built to carry SC 14 traffic over the South Pacolet River,” SCDOT officials said. “The expected closure date is November 30, 2020 with an estimated closure length of 10 weeks, dependent upon weather.”

The state is urging the public to used the signed detours currently installed along S-183, Blackstock Road and Highway 11.
