SUNNY VIEW, NC – Jeanette Williams Smith, 97, of Sunny View, passed away Thursday evening, November 26, 2020 at Smith Phayer Hospice House.

A native and lifelong resident of Polk County, she was the daughter of the late Burton and Mamie Bishop Williams and wife of the late Clyde Smith who passed away April 13, 1985. Mrs. Smith retired from Sunny View Elementary School in 1994 and prior to that, she drove the Bookmobile. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and was a member of Coopers Gap Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert (Bobby) Smith; three brothers, Woodrow, Fred and Ray Williams; four sisters, Carrie Maloney, Sue Reese, Rosalee Wayne and Nell Bennett.

Surviving is one son, Ron Smith of Orange City, FL; one daughter, Luanne Dotson (Donnie) of Sunny View; five grandchildren, Leah Smith, Travis Dotson (Amber), Amy McDowell (Dwayne), Kim Laughter (Byron) and Martha Love (Colt; eight great-grandchildren, Parker and Will Dotson, Hannah and Rylee McDowell, Abbie, Alex, Austin and Axel Love. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. An outdoor funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 29, 2020 at Coopers Gap Baptist Church with Reverend Donald Hollifield officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
