County surpasses 450 cases of COVID-19 since March

POLK COUNTY—Polk County surpassed 450 cases of COVID-19 last week, adding another 21 cases as of Friday. 

The county is now at 451 cases, with 402 presumed recovered, 13 dead and 38 people have been hospitalized. 

The county has done 10,268 tests with 94 still pending, according to county health officials as of Friday. 

Most of the county’s cases have been in people age 25-49 years old, followed by people 50-64 years old, 75 and above and 65-74 years old. Most the cases in Polk County have also been in females, with 53.88 percent female and 46.12 percent in males, according to Friday’s data. 

As of Tuesday, North Carolina had a total of 339,194 cases with 1,601 people hospitalized. The state has completed 4,965,564 tests since March. 

Buncombe County has had 5,232 cases and 124 deaths; Henderson County has had 2,994 cases and 70 deaths; Rutherford County has had 2,241 cases and 74 deaths and Transylvania County has had 503 cases and 9 deaths, according to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services as of Tuesday.
