Polk County received a grant to advertise and urge people to fill out the census. Polk County also created a committee to help more people respond this year.

As of August, 53.7 percent of Polk County residents had filled out the census, which was behind the state and national responses.

Dogwood Health Trust has given the county grants to advertise to help the response as well as is offering money to the county to be used unrestricted for every percentage point the county increases its response.

Filling out the census helps the state and county with representation and other resources, including for government, food and human resources.

People who need help filling out the census can do so through the county library.

Anyone who does not fill out the census can expect volunteers to knock on their doors soon. People can fill out the census that was mailed to them on paper or visit 2020census.gov to fill it out online.
