Santibanez to receive 2020 Stuart Forbes Polk High Scholar award

The Board of Directors for the Stuart and Margaret L. Forbes Foundation, Inc., is pleased to announce Daniela Santibanez as the recipient of the 2020 Stuart Forbes Polk High Scholar Award.

This $6,000 renewable scholarship is awarded to a Polk County High School student who is strong and well-rounded and excels in a specific area of study or who demonstrates talent in a specific area such as fine arts education, science education, career education, healthcare or environmental education. The student is devoted to service oriented goals; the student demonstrates a commitment to helping others; and, he/she participates in school clubs and extracurricular activities. The scholarship is awarded by the Stuart and Margaret L. Forbes Foundation and is administered by the Polk County Community Foundation.

Daniela Santibanez is an honor student at Polk County High School. As a senior, she was a member of the Key Club, a leader of Unified Champions and a member of the Interact Club.

Daniela most enjoyed being actively involved with the ESL Buddy Club which allowed her to travel to local elementary schools and assist children with their homework each week. She hopes to continue aiding ESL students in their educational journeys in the future.

During the summer, Daniela works as a counselor with the Polk County Recreation Day Camp.

Daniela plans to attend North Carolina State University where she will study engineering. She is the daughter of Elvira Santibanez of Mill Spring.
