Pauline Isabella Ecklund Carman

Pauline Isabella Ecklund Carman of Columbus, North Carolina, died Monday, August 17, 2020. She was ninety-seven.

            Pauline was born December 8, 1922, to Irene Park and Walter L. Ecklund in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was a resident of Columbus for the past thirty years, but also lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Grosse Pointe Shores, Michigan, and Rocky River, Ohio after leaving Cedar Rapids. Pauline earned her Master of Science in Library Science from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, and became a law librarian. She served during World War II in the United States Navy. Pauline was also a weaver, and a gardener.

            In addition to her parents, Pauline was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas.

            She is survived by her daughters, Jean Carman Miller (Ross Miller) of Duns, Scottish Borders, United Kingdom, and Jessie Carman of Edgewater, Maryland; by her grandchildren Alistair Farman (Judith Farman) of Kimbolton, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom, and Polly Farman Philip (Caleb Philip) of Jersey City, New Jersey; and by her great-grandchildren, Rebecca Eleanor Philip and Rowan Russell James Farman.

            Interment will be at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, in Black Mountain, North Carolina.
