St. Luke’s honored with national recognition for patient experience

COLUMBUS—St. Luke’s Hospital is one of 266 hospitals nationwide and only 7 in North Carolina to recently receive a 5-star rating for patient experience by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

The federal administrator of the nation’s major healthcare programs assigned a patient experience star rating to 3,478 hospitals based on the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems scores collected from Jan. 1-Dec. 31, 2019.

Of the results, 85 hospitals received 1 star; 528 hospitals received 2 stars; 1,479 hospitals received 3 stars; 1,120 hospitals received 4 stars and 266 hospitals received 5 stars.

St. Luke’s was one of 7 hospitals in the state to receive 5 stars, along with Cape Fear Valley Hoke Hospital in Raeford; Asheville-Oteen VA Medical Center in Asheville; Chatham Hospital in Siler City; Novant Health Medical Park Hospital in Winston-Salem; North Carolina Specialty Hospital in Durham and Davie Medical Center in Mocksville.

Prisma Health Patewood Hospital in Greeneville, S.C. was the only 5-star recipient in South Carolina.
