TFAC holds private ribbon cutting celebrating completion of building project

On Friday, August 7 at 9:30 a.m., Tryon Fine Arts Center (TFAC) celebrated the culmination of extensive renovations and the construction of the new Pavilion with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

TFAC has significantly expanded and improved its facility thanks to the generous support of the community. Art education and general programs will be enhanced with the 2500 square foot, flexible–use Pavilion. Accessibility is improved with new ADA features including performance, gallery and bathroom spaces located on the ground floor. Production set ups will be safe and more efficient with the addition of off-stage storage. Every effort has been made to consider both the immediate and anticipated needs of TFAC, local arts organizations and the community.

These vast improvements are the result of years of planning and professional assistance from Architect John Walters of Tryon and Harper General Contractors of Greenville. With guidance from TFAC’s Board of Directors, support from Polk County Community Foundation, Cannon Foundation, Timken Foundation and the contributions from over 200 art-loving citizens, TFAC now has a community center like no other. Fulfilling TFAC’s mission as the organization manages the expanded spaces, will be challenging and rewarding for the Board and staff.

“We are humbled by the generosity of the community, and the hard work of our capital campaign committee. We look forward to serving our patrons when we are able to safely begin operations in our newly expanded space,” says Marianne Carruth, Executive Director.

With the expansion complete, TFAC operates and programs a 315 seat performance venue and 150 seat amphitheater, an exhibit gallery and a two story flexible use Pavilion for art education, music, theatre, dance and lectures. TFAC makes the arts accessible to local students through education and outreach programs.
