Polk landfill still open
Employee not associated with public tests positive for COVID-19
MILL SPRING—The Polk County Transfer Station in Mill Spring will remain open after an employee tested positive for COVID-19.
Polk County officials alerted the public Monday afternoon that a landfill operator who did work did not involve contact with the public tested positive.
The operator was confined to working with a piece of equipment and had no interaction with the public, according to county officials.
The employee is self-isolating in accordance with public health recommendations.
Polk County government officials are also recommending that all employees use extra precautions to protect themselves and the public from the virus.
The Womack building, Polk County’s main government office location was temporarily shut down last week because of a positive case in the building. Call the needed office for information on conducting business.
