Newton honored with the Second Wind Hall of Fame award

At a specially called meeting on July 23rd at the home of Susan Kelley, the Tryon Garden Club announced the induction of Carol Newton into the Second Wind Hall of Fame (SWHF). Susan, President of the Tryon Garden Club, presented the award along with Donna Southworth, President of SWHF.

In Carol’s role as Treasurer of the Tryon Garden Club, she serves on the Executive Board, is chair of the Finance Committee and chair of the Development Committee.

Carol and her husband, Larry Newton, moved to the Thermal Belt area in 2003 from Charlotte. Since that time, Carol has been busy in various volunteer capacities which include Conserving Carolinas since 2015 and the Holy Cross Episcopal Church Choir for 10 years. She also served as Board Member and Chair for Polk County Vocational Services for three years. In her spare time, Carol enjoys gardening, reading and homemaking.
