As some of you may remember reading, Tryon Painters and Sculptors (TPS) opened with a new show on June 13. After three months of closing our location, we are very pleased with the reception we received from our member artists as well as the visitors who are viewing our show.

We had 59 artists place 104 pieces of diverse art – paintings, photography and sculptor – in this show.

“Show Your Style” is the name of the current show and our artists clearly welcomed the challenge. The show is amazing! Don’t fail to stop in before July 25 when this show goes down to make room for our Summer Sizzle show opening on August 1. Little did we know when we chose that name the temperatures would be in the 90’s. Our gift shop is always sizzling with regional gift items.

Classes have been offered since last June. Safety guidelines for both gallery visitors as well as class students are being followed. Face masks are required, social distancing is being following (even for the classes) and sanitizing methods are in place.

Ann Gleason is currently teaching a PCCF sponsored sculpture class, “Animals in Clay”. This class for beginners only is proving to be not only educational but loads of fun.

Susan Ruby is teaching an art class, “Someday I’ll Take Art; De-Mystifying the Art of Painting”. This PCCF sponsored class is also for beginners and a great way to unleash your hidden talent.

“See Better-Draw Better” is being taught to beginners by Merry-Beth Noble. This innovative class focuses on improving realistic drawing skills as well as stretching your ability to work with traditional materials.

TPS is proud to be a vital part of the area arts scene and will, even in our challenging times, move onward and upward to serve you, our public. Art is a large part of living and should be enjoyed.
