Allen has spent the past two years at R-S Middle after serving four years as an assistant principal at Chase Middle School. He holds a master’s degree in school administration from Western Carolina University.

“It is a privilege to become part of this great school system and to have the opportunity to serve as principal of Sunny View Elementary School,” Allen said.

“Sunny View is full of tradition and heritage. I look forward to becoming part of that tradition and to building relationships with the students, parents, staff members and community of Sunny View.”

The Polk County Board of Education is expected to make Allen’s hire official at its next scheduled meeting on July 27.

“Polk County Schools is excited to announce Preston Allen will be leading Sunny View Elementary School as its next principal,” said Polk County Schools Superintendent Aaron Greene. “I believe Mr. Allen’s prior experience and community-oriented approach to leadership will serve our Sunny View students, families and staff well.

“We look forward to adding his energy and emphasis on building strong student and community relationships to our Polk Schools family.”
